Project Overview

This kitchen renovation reworked a closed-off, dated layout into an open, functional space designed around how the family actually cooks and gathers. The result: custom cabinetry, a waterfall island, integrated appliances, and lighting that makes the room feel considered from every angle.

The Challenge

The original kitchen was small, poorly lit, and disconnected from the adjoining dining space — a layout typical of the home's original era. Storage was limited, work triangle flow was awkward, and the finishes had not been updated in decades.

The Approach

We began by reworking the layout to open the kitchen toward the dining area, adding a large island to anchor the room. Custom cabinetry was designed to maximize storage without crowding the space, and lighting was layered to support both cooking tasks and everyday gathering.

Scope of Work

  • Full demolition of existing cabinetry, counters, and flooring
  • Layout reconfiguration and partial wall removal
  • Custom cabinetry design and installation
  • Stone countertops and full-height backsplash
  • Electrical rework and new layered lighting
  • New flooring throughout the kitchen and dining area

Final Result

The finished kitchen now serves as the true centre of the home — open to the dining space, easy to move through while cooking, and finished with materials chosen to age well. The family reports using the space daily in ways the old layout never supported.
